Save the date for our October 22 Maryland Premiere Film Screening of an adventurous new film by the creators of “Bully” called THE FIRST CLASS!

Watch the trailer HERE!

Tuesday, October 22, 5:30-8:00pm

Busch Public Library, 1410 West Street, Annapolis

It’s the true story of the first year of a new school, Crosstown High in Memphis, Tennessee, a school a lot like New Village Academy. It’s a blast of a film and the perfect way to experience what it will be like to be a founding student at New Village Academy.

Refreshments will be served (and maybe even dinner!) and small group discussions with NVA staff and Youth Advisory Board students will follow the film. Space is limited! Reserve your FREE tickets HERE!

Lottery Window Now Open!

It’s TIME to apply to become a New Village Academy student for Fall 2025! AACPS has now opened the Magnet and Charter School application portal so Anne Arundel families can apply for any Magnet, Charter, or other special program.

Why a lottery?

The application process is a lottery so everyone has a fair shot at admission. Magnet programs are sometimes selective (with academic requirements or auditions) but charter schools like NVA are open to ALL students regardless of ability. New Village is a great school for students who have struggled or felt disengaged from traditional schooling, but ALSO for those who are academically or artistically on fire and want to take charge of their own learning to push beyond the limits of what high school usually offers.

NVA’s lottery window is open October 7th to January 17th. At the end of January, each student is randomly assigned a lottery number (by an independent agency).

NVA “Friend-raiser” Brings a Show of Support!

Thanks to our host and future partner, Maggiano’s in Annapolis Mall, we held a “Friend-Raiser” event on September 23rd to raise funds to launch New Village Academy. Nearly 100 supporters came together to learn more about New Village Academy, eat melt-in-your-mouth calamari, meet our amazing community partners, and celebrate our progress. We received contributions of nearly $28,000 AND an interest-free loan of $100,000 to help us get much closer to our goal for this year of $250,000.

Thank you to all who joined us and all the individuals, businesses, and national and local foundations who have, all together, given more than $1.2 million dollars to help launch New Village Academy!
