How To Apply

Enrollment 2024 – Application and Waiting List

New Village Academy is still enrolling for Fall 2024!  After you have apply through the AACPS special programs application portal HERE, you will receive an email within one week either offering you a space or letting you know you are on the waiting list. You can track your progress on the waiting list HERE. You will need your Magnet ID number from the Application confirmation (not your Student/Lunch number) to check your status on the waiting list. Please contact us at info@newvillageacademy.org if you need to retrieve your magnet ID number. The waiting list is updated once a week on Monday mornings. As soon as a space opens for your child, we will reach out by email to share the good news!

New Village Academy is open to any Anne Arundel County resident going into Grades 9-12 in Fall 2024.

Important Note: New Village Academy embraces all families regardless of size, shape, gender, immigration status, income, language, religion, or cultural identity. Undocumented families are welcome at New Village!

STEP 1 – Connect with us!

Complete the Family Interest Form to tell us about your student, ask questions, and join our mailing list, if you haven’t already done so. (This is not the required lottery application!)

STEP 2 – Apply for the Lottery on the AACPS Website

Go to the AACPS Magnet and Charter Lottery Portal here to sign in with your child’s AACPS ID number and password and choose New Village Academy from the dropdown menu.  The Lottery Window closes on January 19th – try to apply before that time, but if you missed the deadline, apply anyway – we will do our best to ensure you get a spot!

If you think you might qualify for Free or Reduced Meals but have not applied for this status, you should do so HERE before the lottery window closes, since it will give your child preference in the lottery. Immigration status does NOT affect this application. Here is a chart to see if you quality for free or reduced lunch prices.”

STEP 3 – Accept a spot!

We will reach out to everyone on the AACPS acceptance list, based on a random lottery, with preference for low-income (Free and Reduced Meals), English learners, Annapolis families, and siblings of students who are already enrolled. Other students will be put on a fast-moving waiting list.

You will then need to decide quickly whether you want to accept the spot, to make room for those on the waiting list. Accepting the offer means your student is choosing New Village Academy and plans to attend in the Fall! We will host virtual and in-person information sessions for accepted families that we strongly recommend you attend to learn more about the school.

STEP 4 – Spring Enrollment Documents!

New Village Academy staff will reach out to enroll accepted students during the Spring, with paperwork that confirms AA County residence, free and reduced lunch status, medical forms, etc. We’ll help you through this process!

Transfer students who have specific questions about transfer and recovery credit will meet with the principal to determine credit status and ensure a smooth transition to our competency-based assessment structure.

STEP 5 – Summer Onboarding and Home Visit!

Your student’s Crew Leader (their home-base teacher for all 4 years and your primary contact at the school) will reach out to you to set a date for a home visit to meet the whole family and to make sure students and families are ready to hit the ground running on Opening Day! (Another meeting location can be arranged if needed.)

STEP 6 – Show up and Celebrate Day One at New Village!

Our Opening Day on August 26th will be a BIG DEAL! Plan to bring your student to school if you can and join our morning festivities!
