How To Apply
New Village Academy is open to any Anne Arundel County resident entering Grades 9-12 who wants to be known, connected, empowered, and accountable. All types of learners are welcome!
New Village embraces and celebrates ALL families regardless of size, shape, gender, immigration status, income, language, religion, race, or cultural identity.
STEP 1 – Connect with us!
Please complete the Family Interest Form to tell us about your student, ask questions, and join our mailing list, if you haven’t already done so. We will NEVER share your information and we only send occasional updates. (Note: This is not the required AACPS lottery application!)
STEP 2 – Apply for the Lottery!
Application Option 3
We’ll do AACPS form for you!
Complete our Google Form and we’ll add the application to the AACPS lottery system for you! Spanish version available HERE.
The Lottery Window opened on October 6th, 2025 for the 2026-27 School Year. For NVA, it closed January 15, 2026. After the lottery window closed, lottery numbers were randomly assigned by an independent agency, with lottery weighting for English learners (ESOL), families who are eligible for free/reduced lunch (apply here for this status), Annapolis residents, and siblings of current students. (See our full enrollment policy here.)
If you missed the lottery window deadline, apply anyway! We will do our best to ensure you get a spot! (First-come, first-served on the waiting list.) Applying is not a commitment to attend, so there is no downside to entering your child’s name for the lottery!
These application forms are confidential – only visible to AACPS and NVA staff and will never be shared. If you have privacy concerns, we also have paper forms that you can complete at our “Discover NVA!” Info Sessions and other events.
ALL Anne Arundel County residents are eligible to apply, regardless of immigration status, and information is only visible by AACPS and NVA.
STEP 3 – Accept a spot!
Lottery seat offers start becoming available in late January or early February. As spaces become available, we will reach out to you! You will then need to decide within 10 days whether you want to accept the spot, to make room for those on the waiting list. Applying to our school does NOT commit your student to New Village Academy, but accepting the offer of a seat DOES mean your student is choosing New Village Academy and plans to attend in the Fall! We host virtual and in-person information sessions throughout the school year and strongly recommend you attend them to learn more about the school.
STEP 4 – Spring enrollment documents
New Village Academy staff will reach out to enroll accepted students during the Spring. We will need paperwork that confirms Anne Arundel County residence, free and reduced lunch status, medical forms, etc. We’ll help you through this process!
11th and 12th grade transfer students who have specific questions about transfer and recovery credit will meet with the Principal to determine credit status and ensure a smooth transition to our competency-based assessment structure.
STEP 5 – Summer onboarding and home visit!
Your student’s Crew Leader (their home-base teacher for all 4 years and the family’s primary contact at the school) will reach out to you to set a date for a home visit to meet the whole family and to make sure students and families are ready for a successful year on Opening Day! (Another meeting location can be arranged, if needed.)
STEP 6 – Show up and celebrate Day One at New Village!
Our Opening Day in August 2026 will be a BIG DEAL! Plan to bring your student to school if you can, and join our morning festivities!
