Public Transit
New Village Academy has been approved as Anne Arundel County’s first school to rely on public transit instead of yellow school buses. As a small alternative charter school that serves a large area, providing school bus services is unfortunately not financially feasible for us.
Much like Washington D.C. or Baltimore, students will ride the public bus (for FREE) to school, allowing them the flexibility to stay for after-school activities and to get to special activity locations like Anne Arundel Community College or the City Dock.
Parents can also drive students to school, and New Village Academy’s parent organization will help to coordinate carpool groups where possible.
Students with IEPs that include transportation services can contact the school to arrange for these required services.
Both the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County have several bus loops that deliver students directly to Annapolis Mall. Students will be trained by Annapolis transportation personnel to prepare them to plan trips, navigate apps, and ride the buses safely and collaboratively.
